WE WELCOME YOU to the Al-Anon Family Groups, a fellowship of relatives and friends of alcoholics, open to anyone whose life has been affected by someone else's drinking.  We who live with the problem of alcoholism understand as perhaps few others can.  We believe that alcoholism is a family disease and that family members can also be affected – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Our fellowship unites people of every background, race, and walk of life, who learn to overcome the despair and feelings of helplessness caused by alcoholism.

In Al-Anon we learn that we didn't cause it, we can't control it, and we can't cure it.   We also discover that our situation is not really hopeless and that we can find contentment and even happiness whether the alcoholic is drinking or not.  We urge you to try our program.  It has helped many people find solutions to their difficulties.  There are No Dues for membership.  We are self-supporting through our own voluntary contributions.

Alateen is a program for teens, ages 13-18, whose lives are being affected by alcoholism.  Alateen groups are facilitated by certified Al-Anon sponsors and teens learn effective ways to cope with their problems.  While there are no Alateen groups in Chattanooga at present, there are Alateen Chat Rooms and literature available on our national website.

Anonymity is a very important principle of both programs.

We do not discuss whom we see or what we hear in meetings outside of the meetings, always

maintaining confidentiality for all members, including those of A.A.
